HILO

 HILO

Designed in collaboration with paper-folding artist Peter Dahmen, Hilo transforms complex folding geometry into high-performance architectural form.

Its modular, three-dimensional profile interlocks to create a continuous, undulating ceiling that enhances both light and shadow. Beyond its striking visual impact, Hilo improves acoustic performance, diffusing sound through its faceted geometry while absorbing noise to reduce reverberation.

The result is a refined balance of design and function, bringing clarity, depth, and comfort to interior spaces.

Layout

By alternating tile orientation, Hilo transforms the ceiling into a dynamic, wave-like surface—where shifting ridges and edges create striking patterns and amplify shadow play. This flexibility allows designers to shape unique, architectural expressions within the ceiling plane.

Integrated Lighting

Purpose-built for Hilo, ARON Lighting’s linear edge-lit light engine integrates seamlessly into the tile, preserving the purity of the design while delivering exceptional performance.

Advanced optics offer low-glare illumination with both symmetric and asymmetric distributions, allowing precise control of light exactly where it’s needed, without disrupting the ceiling’s visual rhythm. The result is light that is fully tailored to the architecture, ensuring the original design intent remains uncompromised

Engineered Beyond the Expected

Hilo is designed to eliminate the common challenges of integrating lighting into acoustical ceilings. Delivered fully integrated, no tile cutting, no separate fixture installation, no added coordination, each tile installs cleanly into the grid for a precise, refined result with minimal effort on site.

ARON Lighting collaborates closely with FACT Design to embed lighting directly into the acoustical system, creating a unified solution that overcomes traditional limitations while maintaining design integrity and performance.

Color & Finish

We offer a curated palette of standard finishes, including refined grays, blue, and beige, designed to complement a wide range of interior environments.

For greater creative flexibility, FACT Design also provides custom color printing, allowing designers to match brand standards or explore unique tones. The result is a ceiling system that not only performs, but aligns seamlessly with the overall design vision.

ARON’s EDGE Lighting Provides Beam Shaping Characteristics With Low Glare

Edge lit optical-technology allows our fixtures to have exceptionally evenly lit lenses, effectively negating “hot-spotting” on the lens and reducing glare. Through surface bonded extraction features, we can produce the optimal beam shape for any scenario your job requires.
